The Archaeological Society of Delaware and The Lewes Historical Society

Team up for Lewes Investigations!

Archaeological tests were conducted on the main campus of the Lewes Historical Society on September 26, 27 and 28.  This project was a joint effort between the Archaeological Society of Delaware and the Lewes Historical Society.  Volunteers searched for evidence of early Lewes life.

Primary source materials indicate that when 110 Shipcarpenter Street was owned by Dr. Hiram Rodney Burton, there were two small buildings located directly in front of the house along Shipcarpenter. Street.  Investigations took place to see if any trace of the structures or associated artifacts are extant.

If you wish to participate on future projects, please contact Ed Otter at 443-880-2339 or
eotter20@comcast.net.
